A half hour later, after the romantic reunion, Jeannine became very quiet, which aroused Tony's concern.
"Jeannine, what's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing why?"
"You were suddenly quiet, that's unusual for you, is something wrong?".

"Not really, it's just.... Well, I'd like to know what happened on your date with Cassandra and why she called you today."
"Jean..."
"I'm not complaining, I'm just curious and, as your wife, I think I have a right to know."

"I know, and believe me, I would tell you, but I don't want to hurt you."
"So something did happen between you and Cassandra," Jeannine replied, her voice weak.
"Er... It could have happened, but it didn't, and that's all you need to know."
"Please, Tony, could you be more specific?"

Tony let out a sigh. It was his moment of truth, his chance to start over from zero with Jeannine, no lies.
"Okay," he sighed "Cassandra and I... we kissed and we were about to... you know. But it didn't happen."
The smile faded from Jeannine's lips.
"You kissed her, it means you still have feelings for her."
"It was the heat of the moment, that's all. But I stopped in time, said goodbye and got out of there. It's over, Jean. Please trust me."
"You said goodbye, but now she's calling you to our house. Why?"
"Honestly, I don't know myself."
