After talking to Mike in Starlight Shores, Tony should have returned to Island Paradise to talk to Jeannine, as was his wish, but at the last minute he changed his mind and decided to take some time off to think. So he did what Mike had advised him, he called Jeannine and told her that he wasn't going back to the island... yet.... yet. He would first take a trip to France with his two teenage sons, Bradley and Jean, to teach them the basics of winemaking, the growing of the different types of grapes and, incidentally, begin their training as future explorers.
That was the explanation Tony gave Jeannine about his trip, but she was not convinced by it. There was something fishy going on here, this sudden flight of Tony's surely had something to do with his meeting with Cassandra, so she asked some questions, which Tony answered with clever evasive answers until Jeannine gave up. She feared that if she kept asking she would end up learning a truth she didn't want to think about.
"Very well," she told him "I'll send the boys to Starlight Shores so they can travel with you to Champs Les Sims. Have a safe trip."
"Thank you, dear."
"Tony?"
"Yes?"
"Remember I love you."
"I love you too," he replied and they both hung up.
By the next evening, Tony, Bradley and Jean had arrived in France. The two boys confused, and also annoyed at having to leave warm Island Paradise for the wintry cold of Champs Les Sims. And a little uncomfortable because they barely knew each other and now they would suddenly have to spend at least a week together.
Bradley was especially upset that he was unable to stay in Starlight Shores with his mother. Tony promised him that upon his return he would send him to the Steele's to spend time with her before returning to his classes.
His father's promise soothed Bradley and he quickly adapted to the farming life, as he found the planting of grapes of all kinds very enjoyable. No doubt, Brad carries gardening in his blood, from his great-great-grandfather Farid Kamel, all the way back to his father.
Jean on the other hand, despite having spent his childhood in Champs Les Sims, did not show much interest in growing grapes or making wine, as he is focused on his greatest passion: music.
His musical interest also runs in the family on Tony's side.
Bradley did not inherit the same musical talent, but he did get his father's ability to write. His greatest desire is to be both a writer and an explorer just like Tony. In fact, of all the Langerak boys, he is the one who most resembles Tony in every way. Especially physically, as he is the spitting image of Tony when he was his age.
By the way, Tony took advantage of the peace of the Champs Les Sims chalet to continue writing his latest book. Also to think about his decision regarding Jeannine and Cassandra. Although he hasn't really had much time for himself trying to teach the kids the secrets of making good wine. He wants them to know how to run the family business in case he decides to retire one of these days.
To tell the truth, withdrawing now would not be advisable since his business in France is going great. Sales are still modest, but steady, and his stand is a bit small, but there is not a day that goes by without one of his products being sold.
It's already dark and the customers are still arriving - and this is only his first day in Champs Les Sims!
The next morning. Brad is on his way to the Nectary.
It's only the beginning of the day and he's already made his first sale, this kid learns fast!
Ironically, Jean, being the son of Jeannine - a wine expert and the one who introduced Tony in the business - does not seem at all interested in it. The poor guy was bored out of his mind at the Nectary. "Well, it looks like there will be another musician in the family," Tony thinks to himself.
Another day of hard training is over, the boys are tired and hungry, so they will go to bed right after dinner.
Tony's plans for his children and business are going smoothly, but his affair with Cassandra remains unresolved. His brother's words are still swirling around in his head. This has given him some anxiety, pushing him to drink again. Hopefully it will be just one glass to relax before bedtime.
