While Dale prepares breakfast and does all that thinking, Kelly is just getting up.

Riley, on the other hand, has already gone and returned from the library, picked up the newspaper and is now heading to the kitchen, attracted by the smell of pancakes.

Dale has already served his and Kelly’s plates, Riley takes one herself and sits down next to Dale (uninvited, of course).

Riley: Good morning, Dale.

Dale: Morning.

Riley: I’m surprised you’re not still in bed.

Dale: It’s the first day of school, I wanted to start it off right.

Riley: I see – Did you think about what I asked?

Dale: You said I had until noon to give you my answer, it’s only 5 am.

Nonsense, of course Dale has an answer to Riley’s ‘invitation’, but he’s waiting for Kelly to arrive to give it to her.
