The next day, Shantes had problems with the elevator again.
"Ught, that's what I get for not taking the stairs, like I promised.".
And all because she had a date with her new boyfriend... Shark Racket! Her umpteenth lover. Shark is Mona Kamel's ex-husband, Mona is one of Shantel's aunts. Will there be anyone in this city who is not her distant relative? Yeah, Shark.
Whatever, Shantel and Shark seemed to get along well. Too bad he was much older than her - for a change. Although she of course didn't care. Nobody knew if she would date someone of her age again someday.
Aaron was aware that he and Shantel would never go back together, still he didn't like Shark's presence, cause everyone in town has heard about his cheater reputation, and how bad he behaved with Mona, who, in addition, is Aaron's niece. (Although she's older than him, oh well...)
Aaron'shostile attitude towards Shark obviously annoyed Shantel.
"Oh, what's wrong with Aaron? He better leave Shark alone".
But he didn't and Shark ended up leaving early to avoid trouble. Shantel was so angry that she stopped talking for a long time. Didn't he understand that everything was over between them? They were both free to do whatever they want. Why didn't he find himself a girlfriend and stopped meddling in her life?
Not even Aaron himself knew. Nostalgia, perhaps, or whim. But there was nothing to do. Shantel was a lost case, she simply wasn't faithfull, that's why she had broken up with Aaron, with Dean Goth and with all her other boyfriends, which hadn't been a few.
Fortunately, Kay's friendship, bit by bit, helped Aaron to forget Shantel and focus in other things. Kay and Aaron got along extremely well. It was something spontaneus. They didn't even imagine, but once upon a time, her mother and his father had been madly in love. Would that happen to them too?
It was a possibility, but in the meantime, all they could think about now was preparing for the University. For instance, they read togehter about a shared interest: Gardening.
Apparently, Aaron had been at Uni before, cause besides his High School Certificate, he had a Science and Medicine degree hanging on his bedroom wall.
While Kay and Aaron studied, it was Antoine's turn to do the laundry.
And then he had to scold Dakota, Kay's dog for messing up the carpet, which he had to clean too.
Since Shark is gone, Shantel decided to practice her Writing skill, very necessary for her future Journalism career.
After studying for a long while, Kay and Aaron went to work in the greenhouse. They examined seeds, talked to the plants and harvested tomatoes.
Lastly, Kay planted her own seeds. She was learning fast about the complicated art of Gardening, one of the many things she enjoyed to do in Aaron's company. Their friendship was going full steam ahead, but -- would it become something else? Just like the newly sown seed, she'd have to give it time, and wait...
