Sandy was in the middle of her romance with Kai Kahale, the Governor of Sunlit Tides. She looked very much in love too, he had even talk to her about marriage. He seemed so enthusiastic and ready, he even changed his hairstyle to look a bit younger, all because he wanted to please his beloved Sandy. Like I said before, the romance was full steam ahead... until some rumors started to go around the islands.
Those rumorse said that Kai was married and had a daughter, and that he was lying to Sandy to be able to have her. Sadly, Sandy confirmed those rumores when, paying attention, she discovered something that, blinded by love, she hadn't seen before: a wedding ring shining in Kai's finger.
Kai: "Who told you that story, your boss?, he asked.
Sandy: "It doesn't matter who told me. How come Griffin as well as the other employees, and the whole Sunlit Tides knew about it, except me?"
Sandy thought Kai would deny it, she had hope that nothing was true, but Kai accepted his fault. He confessed that he was indeed married, to Alana Kahale and that he did have a daughter. He was about to get a divorce when he met Sandy, but when Alana found out about his new relationship, she got angry and just wouldn't sign the divorce papers. He was now trapped in a marriage with a woman he didn't love and with whom he no longer even lived.
He sounded sincere and everything that he had said could be true, but Sandy wasn't satisfied. She felt deceived by lies and a fool for dreaming that would end in a marriage. To think she had been about to tell her parents! Anyway, everything ended that morning. Goodbye to her al dreamy romance, she would not be first lady cause there was one already: Alana Kahale.
The first one to find out about the break-up was her boss, Griffin. He called her at noon to aske her to help him with some pending work. Of all his subordinates, he considered Sandy the most qualified. she had no desire to work that day, but this could serve as a distraction, so she accepted. Also, she would use his visit as an opportunity to ask him for advice.
Sandy's workmate say Griffin looks like a nerd and that he's as ugly as his parents. Sandy doesn't think so, Griff is smart, educated, and a very talented businessman. It wasn't for nothing that his father put him in charge of Sand, Sun and Surf Corp. The wealthy Nick Alto and his wife Vica assist him and support him from Sunset Valley. Sandy has heard her father praise the Altos, especially Nick, for their great instinct for business.
Anyway, Griffin came to Sandy's house to work and ended up listening to her sorrows. Sandy told him what had happened with Kai, maybe that was too much information, but Griffin is the only person Sandy trusts in the whole Sunlit Tides. After all he's been good to her, he has appreciated her work and has turned her into his right hand. He not only listened to her until the end but agreed to give his advice.
Griffin: Kai Kahale isn't a bad guy. He has had a lot of problems with Alana, and is true they are separated for a long time. It is she that insists on staying married, if Kai accepted the situation it is just for his daughter."
Griffin's words kind of comforted Sandy, but her anger remains. While she was fixing luch for both, she got a phone call from Kai. He wanted to see her. "We have to talk", he said. Answer was no, Sandy doesn't want to see him ever again. She's very hurt.
Griffin: Give him a chance, Sandy, he must've had his reasons to lie to you.
Maybe, but Sandy doesn't want to know anything for now, everything is so recent, she needs time. Why did this had to happen? She was just recoverting from his break-up with Simon and now, suddenly, the spell was broke with Kai too.
After finishing their work, they played videogames. Griffin beat Sandy, who knew he was so good at this! After two matches, they returned to Kai's matter. Griffin couldn't convince Sandy to talk to him. Wow, how spiteful of her! Well, it isn't for nothing, a lie isn't easily forgiven.
"Everything will sort out, you'll see", he told her at the end of the day,. His tone was very sweet.
Sandy remembered what she heard at the office: that Griffin is interested in her. Oh, please! Griffin has a grilfriend, Tenika. Don't they know he moved to Sunlit Tides just to be near her? Sandy would be a fool if to fall an engaged man again. Besides, Griffin is her boss, her best friend,- if not her only one -. He's her confident and advisor. "You wouldn't spoil that, would you Sandy Kamel?", she asked herself.
She didn't. Griffin spent the night at her house, but not in her room, like Kai used to. Sandy and Griffin are just friends, so he slept in the guests room and fell asleep immediately. He must be dreaming about work, work and more work. That's Griffin for you.
Sandy went to bed alone, for the first time in many days. Of course she couldn't even think of taking Griffin to her bed, but she could use a hug or something. Nah, that's not going to happen, she doesn't want more problems, and Griffin is a gentleman, so... off to sleep, tomorrow will be another day.
The night was beautiful outside, but for Sandy it was the saddest night of all the few nights she had been in Sunlit Tides.
The day after, there's work to do. Dirty dishes and a cup of coffe are Sandy's company. Griffin must be getting ready to go to the office. What a strange situation, she and her boss aren't having the typical affair, but he slept over at her house and going to work from here. Odd. It's as if they were already a couple - only they're not.
"I gotta get going, bye Sands, see you at the office dear".
"Bye, Griff, and thanks for everything".
"Anytime".
"See you at the office, dear", Griffin had told her. "Dear? That sounded good. And what's best, it gave Sandy a boost to start her working day. But in the back of her mind is still Kai.
The rain is still pouring, but a rainbow has been drawn over Sand. Sun and Surf Corp.
The downpoor has turned into a storm. The wind blows strong and there's thunder and lightning. Some start to talk of a tropical storm, which wouldn't be rare in Sunlit Tides, but honestly, Sandy has seen worse showers in Hidden Springs.
That's how the mountain looks under the storm.

Back at the office, the storm has stopped. It wasn't a hurricane or any of that. But the 'storm' inside Sandy's heart continues. "I gotta be strong, if this is going to be fixed, let it be fixed quick. If it was a stumble, I will get over it. I'll forget you, Kai, I promise".
