TIME TRAVELER: E207.THE PASSENGER

"So, Bjorn tells me that Robin is in fact alien?" Sopeha asked.

"Only 40% according to his DNA analysis," Karen replied.

"Oh, good. Do you know if he's developed special powers yet?"

"What… kind of powers?"

"The normal powers on any alien."

Dylan stepped in. 

"Uh, we don't know if he has those, er... powers. I mean, maybe he has them but doesn't know it, cause he doesn't know he's an alien yet."

"Believe me, if the kid is alien, he already knows it, and at his age, I'd say he's in full use of his powers," Sopeha sentenced.

"Good grief," Karen gasped.

"Anyway," Sopeha continued. "I need more information on him, like who is he, what does he do, where did he come from, and why does he need to go to Lunar Lakes?"

"His name is Robin Crane, he's 22 years old, he's a Time Traveler. And he came from the future, Oasis Landing 2054 to be exact," Dylan reported; Sopeha gulped.

She seemed shocked for a millisecond and the fleeting expression of concern on her face did not go unnoticed to Karen.

"Did you say Crane, from Oasis Landing?" She asked with renewed interest.

"Yes, he lost his parents when he was three years old, but we just found out they didn't die, and we think they're living in Lunar Lakes now, that's why he needs to travel there," Dylan explained.

"So, he lost his parents at the age of three," Sopeha repeated.

Then she stood still for a moment, as if she was pondering or doing calculations in her head. Her brain was going at the speed of light searching for data: Crane, Oasis Landing, 2054, at the age of three, 22 years minus 3…"

"Sopeha, are you okay?" Dylan asked; Sopeha reacted right away. 

"Sorry, I was…recharging my energy," she answered. This time she managed to disguise her shock, but, again, her odd behavior did not go unnoticed for Karen.

"It seemed more like you were trying to remember something," she pointed out.

"Does Robin's story sound familiar to you?" Dylan asked.

"Right, if you know Lunar Lakes, maybe you know his parents," Bjorn added.

"Uh - well, I don't get to meet everyone in Lunar Lakes, you know... Now, can any of you tell me Robin's exact date of birth?" 

"Why would that be important here?" Karen protested.

"2032, I guess", Dylan rushed to reply. "The exact day and month I don't know." 

"And his parents' names?" Sopeha pressed.

"Douglas Crane and Sylvie Girard," Dylan answered, Sopeha blinked. 

"A-are you sure?" She asked after a pause.

"Yes, that's what the information we found says. I can show you a picture, I have it here on the flash drive, I also have one of Robin if that's any help." 

"Oh, that won't be necessary. Better tell me, why would Robin want to make the journey to Lunar Lakes from Aurora Skies 2016 and not from Oasis Landing 2054, which his and his alleged parents' time?" Sopeha asked with marked interest.

"Cause he's stuck here, in 2016. He had to abruptly leave Oasis Landing due to a problem with the authorities."

"Really, what kind of problem?" Sopeha asked, even more interested.

"Apparently, he broke some of the Population Committee's laws, or so he was told."

"The Population Committee, of course," Sopeha replied with a hint of irony.

"Anyway," she added, a little less worried, even livelier than she was at the beginning. "With the information you have given me it should be more than enough for my superiors to authorize the trip. Now, let's move on to the most difficult part: the transportation."

Time Traveler: E192. Searching the Cranes - Part 1

"Bjorn made himself comfortable as Dylan continued to read the pages of the newly unlocked document.

"So, future boy's parents are alive", he stated.

"Apparently yes, their names are Douglas Crane and Sylvie Girard. He's currently 48 years old, she's 45; he's a High Tech Engineer, she's a Doctor in Science and Medicine. They met and got married in Oasis Landing. Here's a picture of the two of them, they were much younger then".

"It says here that they were 'both distinguished members of the Oasis Landing Council' until they had to flee in 2035, the same year of the photo".

"Had to flee? For what reason?".

"It doesn't specify it here but check this out: Sylvie Girard. Age: 26. DNA, 100% human; Douglas Crane. Age: 29. DNA: 60% human, 40% alien. That explains Robin's DNA, he got it from his father!"

"Douglas is alien?" Bjorn asked, approaching to get a better look. "Well, he looks quite human to me".

"Yep, so does Robin".

"Look, here's a picture of Rob as a kid, and with his real hair color; he gets that from his father too, I guess. The photo is also from 2035".

"Any info about him?"

"Not much. Name: Robin Crane. Born: 2032. Age: 3. Current location: Oasis Landing. DNA: Unknown…?"

"Well, I'm sure they knew, but whoever wrote this info didn't want to disclose it".

"Who wrote this, anyway?" Bjorn asked.

"No idea. But from what I can see, Crane is indeed Robin's last name".

"Wasn't it supposed to be?"

"Robin told Juliette that 'Crane' was the name of the robot that took care of him when he was a baby, an alias he had been registered with at the Community Center".

"Registered? By whom?"

"Emit Relevart, a kind of time-keeper, he took Robin into his care and raised him as if he was his own child; later he was his mentor at the Academy where Robin became a Time Traveler."
