Time Traveler: E188 - A Heated Debate

Karen still couldn't accept the idea of not telling her children about her discovery, but Dylan, being a Time Traveler himself, knew the value of confidentiality so he stood firm on his position.
"Well, I guess we're in agreement, so I'm calling Bjorn now," he said, pulling out his phone again to dial.
"Wait... Oh, my goodness, I just remembered", Karen said suddenly.
"What?" Dylan asked.
"I just remembered".

"When Jul handed me Robin's sample, she asked me to let her go alone with Robin to register Rowan; at the time I didn't imagine what I would find in the analysis, so I agreed. I kind of gave her my blessing to go ahead with him, I even advised her to take precautions, if you know what I mean".

"I didn't know I was giving my daughter permission to sleep with an alien!" Karen exclaimed.
Dylan gasped, was not as concerned about Robin being an alien as he was about with the idea of their daughter dating a married guy. But he didn't want to distress Karen more, so he took a deep breath and exhaled before answering.
"Well, I don't think they need our permission anyway. They're adults, they love each other, and they've already started a family, so..."

"Are you kidding? First, Rob is still married; second, I don't think we should risk Jul having another alien child."
"Hey, we don't know yet if Rowie is an alien as well".
"Ok, but Robin is one. Juliette might not be safe around him. Aliens have powers, you know? They can control minds to turn humans into their servants; they're able to bio-drain, scan, probe and impregnate them too."
"Where the hell did you hear all that, baby, on Gundrun's UFO sightings podcast?"
"Dyl, please, stop mocking me, this is serious!"
"Honey, I'm not mocking you."

"I just don't believe anything that Gundrun publishes".
"You insist she's lying, why?"
"Because I know her, she likes to make up stories to gain followers!"
"No, she doesn't. She has proof of everything she says in her broadcasts. Just like Bjorn, she does her research and find things out. What's wrong with you, Dylan, don't you believe in science anymore?"

"I do believe in science! I just don't go around scaring other people with stories of aliens and their terrifying powers. I reckon they are out there somewhere, but what I can't take is the ridiculous way they're portrayed sometimes, like evil beings seeking to enslave us and perform experiments on us."

"What if that's not what they're after? What if they just want to be friendly and helpful to us?"
"That's the problem with you, Dyl, you're too naive, you still think aliens are the friendly 'occupants of interplanetary crafts'; but those are indeed only fantasies, honey".
