Dale: (Continues) Now if I decide to go to that gala with Riley, it won’t be as a date, but as a work appointment, something convenient for both of us. And you’re going to have to trust me, Kel, ‘cause I need someone to believe in me for once in my goddamn life.

Dale is heading for the bedroom. Kelly didn’t even have time to apologize to him like she wanted to. And now she’s distraught at the thought of Dale deciding to go with Riley to that gala. Plus what he said about his brother. What the hell was that about?
Dale was already at the bedroom door, but he turned and walked back toward her.

Dale: Oh, and for once I warn you that I’m going to call Terry later for advice, I hope you don’t mind me turning to my own brother for support.

Dale walked into the bedroom. Kelly stood there, puzzled, thinking about the things Dale had just said.

“T never hated you, in fact he…”

In fact he what? All kinds of answers paraded through Kelly’s imagination, but one of them was the one that stuck.

Kelly: (Thinking): “Did Dale mean what I think he meant? For God’s sake, don’t let it be that. Maybe it was better that he didn’t say it, but–damn, now I have to know. Talk about trying to control everything. (*Sigh*)
