The Shens settled themselves comfortably in the living room to continue chatting. This time they left Robin out of the conversation on purpose to avoid increasing Juliette's anxiety.
Juliette put Rowan down on the floor next to his grandparents so he could play a bit before the great moment arrived.
Rowan protested. He only wanted to be in mommy's arms, why wasn't that possible anymore?
"Row, you're a big boy now, you don't need mommy to hold you", she explained to him. "Stay here and behave while I get you your toys, okay?"
While Rowan, not very willingly, started to play, the Shens surrounded Juliette again.
"Honey, are you sure you're gonna be fine?" Karen asked.
"Why you all keep asking me that? I'm not made of glass, I can handle this", Juliette complained.
"Hey, calm down, everybody", Dustin stepped in. "It's no big deal. Rowan's going to meet his Dad, it's a happy occasion, there's no reason to be upset".
Logan wan't interested in what was coming next, so he went up to Juliette's bedroom to play in her computer. Meanwhile, downstairs, Karen returned to the charge.
"Darling, I don't want to annoy you, but I really don't think you should be left alone with Robin".
"Mom, please, I'm a grown up girl, I can take care of myself."
The doorbell rang at that exact moment.
"Okay, this is it, if you excuse me I'll open the door", Dustin said. Dylan closed his book and began to get up.
"Please, Jul, think well what you're going to do", Karen insisted.
Dustin hurried to the rescue.
"Like I said before, we'll have to give Jul and Robin some space, so if you don't mind..."
"Of course we mind", Karen protested "We are Rowan's grandparents, we are a part of his family, so before everything else we will be properly introduced".
"Is it absolutely necessary? You guys said you already knew him", Dustin said tiredly.
"Come on, Dust, do as you mother says or there will be a cataclysm".
"Ah, alright. Sorry, Jul".
Juliette didn't answer. She was so nervous she just picked up Rowan and ran off to the kitchen. The doorbell rang again, this time more insistently.
"Well", Dustin sighed "If no one has anything else to say, I'll open the door now".
