Dylan and Karen: The Romance Ends

The next day, very early, the exams began. Dylan passed the first one without problems.

He immediately starting studying for the second one, which would be in a few hours.

Karen had more time to prepare herself, since her exams would start until 4 pm.

When the time came, she was more than ready.

By then, Dylan had passed his Abstract Theory of Life 302 exam with and excellent grade.

Before going in for the exam, Karen ran into professor Scot McLamoor. She immediately approached him to greet him. She introduced herself and asked him for an apology for her joke at the conference the other day.

She also gathered the courage to ask him for an extra credit. Professor McLamoor accepted her apology, as for the credit, he said he would try if Karen got him a double burger for dinner.

A burger! No way, Karen had to forget about the credit. And as they were talking about food, she got hungry and headed for the cafetería. 

Dylan was waiting for her there. She had said to him that they had to talk, he just didn't know about what.

Karen was going to tell him the truth of what had happened with Paul Biden.

But first they both had to eat something, cause it was almost 9 pm. Karen didn't know if she could pass bite thinking of Dylan's reaction when he heard what she had to tell him.

Ashley DeSorrento called him to ask him out on a date. She had done this several times already and Dylan had always declined. This time wasn't the exception.

Dylan had always been faithful to Karen, she on the other hand... Anyway, the moment came to tell him the whole truth.

But Karen's phone rang. Peter Horne wanted a date, how daring of him! He must've had seen the posts on Alexandra's Facebook. 

Karen of course sent him to hell. Well, now was the moment to tell Dylan what had happened with Paul while he was at school.

When he knew, Dylan couldn't believe it. So Alexandra was right, Karen had completed the challenge. and it hadn't been just a silly kiss like the one she had given to Mr. Home. She had kissed none other than Paul Biden, the snooty friend of the late Cid Serverus and now leader of the Jocks! Now that was a major offense!

Obviously, he didn't liek the news at all. Karen didn't know what else to say, she knew Dylan had all the reason in the world to be angry.

"I never thought you were capable of such a thing. You could've settled for kissing Mr. Home, or just forget about the challenge, but did you have to kiss that idiot Paul Biden?"

Dylan was truly offended, Karen went numb. She didn't know what was going to happen after this. To think it was a week left to finish the term!

Dylan didn't want to continue talking to her. One of the jocks started taking pictures of them, he surely wantd to upload them to a social network. Karen preferred to leave the place before the scandal got bigger. Besides, it was almost 100% sure Dylan wouldn't want to see her anymore. She might even have to ask for a change of dorm room.

Karen felt the worst. She was not only sad, but exhausted and worried about Dylan, since he hadn't come home to sleep. On top of it, she had started to feel ill. Apparently it was the flu or something like that. Good thing the next day was Saturday and she didn't have class.

Como estaba muy disgustado con Karen, Dylan intentó quedarse a dormir en la cafetería, pero fue imposible, había demasiado escándalo. Ni hablar, tendría que regresar a casa y enfrentar a Karen.

 

De regreso, por el camino, Dylan tomó su decisión...

 

Era muy triste, pero en aquel momento no podía ni quería arreglar las cosas con Karen, así que decidió que lo mejor era terminar. A partir de ese momento, en lo que a él se refería, él y Karen Helgason ya no eran una pareja.

 

Fue un duro golpe para Karen. ¡Y ella que pensaba que formalizaría su noviazgo después de la Uni! Que Dylan le daría el anillo de compromiso y ella comenzaría a hacer los preparativos para la boda. Pero ya no sería así. Todo había terminado, y era sólo su culpa.

Pero la vida tenía que seguir y Karen es muy orgullosa, así que al día siguiente sin demostrar cómo se sentía, salió a hacer sus primeras entrevistas como alumna de Comunicaciones.

Fue una mañana interesante, pero a pesar de eso, Karen debía aceptarlo: extrañaba horrores a Dylan.

Él no se apareció por el dormitorio en todo el día. Karen no tenía idea en dónde podría estar. Tal vez en sus clases, en la biblioteca o en la cafetería. Qué mas daba. Era un hecho que no volverían.

Por la tarde Karen recibió la visita de su amigo Robert Richards, un jock de nivel 10. Robert se quedó un buen rato. Ambos charlaron y se rieron mucho, incluso practicaron la porra de la Universidad juntos. Fue un momento alegre enmedio de la tristeza de Karen. También estuvo ahí Sharon, la amiga 'verde' de Dylan, pero se fue casi enseguida al saber que él no estaba. 

Una de las muchas desventajas de que Dylan no estuviera, fue tener que ocuparse de los desperfectos, como el de la tina de baño. Era la primera vez que Karen reparaba algo, pero no lo hizo mal y consiguió un punto de Mecánica.

Fue una tarde muy solitaria y aburrida. Karen ni siquiera tenía ánimos para estudiar. Estuvo mirando por la ventana largo rato, por si regresaba Dylan, pero nunca apareció.

También checó sus mensajes, a ver si Dylan le había enviado alguno, pero nada. Tampoco le llegó ninguno de Paul.

Al día siguiente, para distraerse fue de visita a la casa de Marques Ballard, el vampiro celebridad, con la esperanza de impresionarlo, ya que era uno de sus grandes deseos.

Pero no fue fácil impresionar a Marques, pues algunos de los temas de conversación que entusiasmaban a Karen no eran en absoluto de su interés.

 Pero finalmente, y gracias a su gran inteligencia, Karen logró su propósito: impresionó a Marques y cumplió su deseo. ¡Había impresionado a una celebridad! Hasta se hicieron amigos e incluso estudiaron juntos. 

Dejar una buena impresión en una Celebridad no es fácil, pero cada logro es un escalón para  incrementar fama y fortuna! ... Sin mencionar que Karen y Marques intercambiaron conocimientos. Fue interesante. Karen se distrajo, la pasó bien y dejó de pensar en Dylan por un rato...

... Hasta que se lo encontró por casualidad afuera del hospital, a donde ambos acudieron por una vacuna para la alergia. Dylan estaba repasando sus lecciones, ya no parecía tan disgustado. Le hizo a Karen algunas preguntas sobre sus exámenes, y ambos terminaron estudiando juntos afuera del hospital. Para Karen desde luego, este grupo de estudio fue mucho mejor que el que había formado con Marques Ballard!

Al terminar, Dylan le ofreció llevarla a casa en su auto. Por el camino rompieron el hielo y conversaron como dos grandes amigos.

Después de dos largos días, oficialmente, y casi sin darse cuenta, Dylan regresó al dormitorio. El y Karen continuaron estudiando juntos y hablando sobre las clases. Aunque las cosas entre ellos no se arreglaron, al menos habían rescatado su amistad, lo cual era un alivio ya que tendrían que convivir por el resto del trimestre. Además, Karen no perdía la esperanza de restablecer su relación, si acaso fuera posible...
