An Eveninig with the Huans

Kay's parents had just moved into their new home and wanted Kay to come to see it. Kay decided to take this opportunity to tell them about her relationship with Aaron and their wedding plans. When they arrived, it was Gan, her father, who met them at the door, somewhat surprised to see Aaron there, but he was polite as always.

Kay wasn't worried so much about her dad's reaction as he was about her mother's. What would she say when she found out that she was Aaron Wassem's girlfriend? Elisa didn't even imagined it, she was in the kitchen, quietly making a delicious dish of Teppanyaki vegetables for dinner.

Kay told her mother that she had something to tell her first, and then she'd introduce her mysterious boyfriend to her. Kay was a bit nervous but she confident, cause even if Elisa didn't agree, she could not prohibit her from marrying Aaron. First, first, because the family relationship between them was not that close; second, because Kay was of legal age and had the right to make her own decisions; third, and most importan, Elisa would surely understand she felt, because, well, she had once been in a similar situation. So, before they all sat at the table to have dinner, Kay told her mother told her who the young man was who was waiting outside with his father.

Elisa was shocked. Her daughter's boyfriend was no less than Aaron Wassem, the son of Khaled the impossible love of her youth, who, in addition, her grand uncle. Khaled and Elisa's love couldn't be due to the opposition of their families, so they both had to settle for something more platonic cause they had been afraid to confront them. A rather painful episode of her life, and now her daughter was in the exact same situation? She couldn't help but get angry for the moment.
"Tell me, Kay, why Aaron? I thought I especifically asked you not to fall in love with him. It could be anyone but him, remember?"
"Yes, mom, I remember well, and I'm sorry, but I couldn't help it".

Gan didn't ignore the story of his wife and Khaled Wassem and had always been understanding with her in this regard. He remembered that old saying 'what's not in your year is not in your damage"; or better said, that romance, in addition to being impossible, was already in the past. Elisa's heart belonged to him now for sure. As for Aaron, you could tell he was a good guy. And he had immediately sympathized with him.

When Elisa was able to look closer at Aaron, she wasn't surprised with of his handsomeness; his father was hansome too. But the resemblance between the two was not much, Aaron looked more like granfather Farid, his half-uncle. Elisa had seen Aaron once or twice from afar as akid. How quickly life and time had passed! Kay held her breath while her mother stared at Aaron. For a few instants she seemed speechless, but the she finally reacted:
"Nice to meet you, Aaron, and welcome our family".
"Thank you Mrs. Huan", Aaron answered; Kay breat with relief,

And so did Gan.
"Okay now we all can have dinner, what a joy".

After dinner, Gan noticed Elisa's concern. Surely the memories had taken her by surprise, but as always he gave her his unconditional support. He figured she would need it, especially on the day of the wedding when they would have to meet Aaron's parents.

I wasn't going to be easy for Elisa to meet again with Khaled. For Gan wouldn't be a problem since he and  Khaled worked together at the Hidden Springs Elementary School In fact Gan was Khaled's boss! They had never had a conflict, or any kind of dispute, much less for something from the past.

Elisa, in contrast, while she was very sure of her love for Gan, and of their more than 20 years of marriage, she had avoided as far as possible to meet face to face with Khaled during all those years. But not even herself knew how she would react if she had him near.

One thing was sure, she had to support her daughter no matter what, so she and Gan offered her new house to celebrate the wedding there. Elisa and Kay said goodnight to each other with a big hug.
"May you two be very happy, dear".
"Thank you, mom".

Gan also said goodby to her in a very loving manner.

"Just be happy, dear, and don't worry about anything else".
"Thanks, dad. I love you both".
"And we love you".

Elisa also gave Aaron a goodbye hug.

Gan also said goodbye to him very politely. It was a fact, Aaron had been accepted in the family as well as Kay had been accepted in his. Now all that remained was for the wedding to take place. They would have to start with the invitations, which would many, cause Elisa and Gan had friends all around Hidden Springs, not to mention her massive family consisting of the Goths, the Kamels and the Langeraks. Anyway, it would be a celebration in style. The second daughter of the Huans was getting married, which was a great joy for them, but it also meant thay they would be left alone.

Gan and Elisa wished their daughters would be inmensely happy in their marriages and that, in the future, both Kay and Gwyneth would visit them often. And filled their house with grandchildren!"
