A Very Special Present

Two days before the final exam and Farah was still attending parties every night. Midweek there was a a bonfire party at the Fraternity dorm.
The party lasted until dawn and in the end Farah ran home, hoping to be able to sleep at least for one hour.
The term was about to finish and she hadn't studied much. She hadn't make progress with her novel either, or finished Harold's portrait. So that morning she promised herself: not one more fraternity party

The alarm clock rang almost immediately. If she wanted to arrive early she had to eat breakfast in a hurry. She hadn't slept more than half an hour.
Even the herbs she added to her pancakes were enough to take away her sleepiness.
What helped her to wake up was the downpour that started to fall as she got out of the dorm.
She was late for class again. To run!
That they the weather was awful. Heavy rain, lighting, thunder and strong winds. Farah almost felt happy to be inside the classroom, though, frankly, she slept practically the whole two hours of class.
On exit, she had to give autographs on Robert's name again.
"Oh, thank you so much, Farah! Roberto Rayo is my favorite singer!"
"Yeah well, here's your autograph. I'm going to get a coffee".
"A double frothiccino with caramel and chocolate chips, please".
Once in a while you gotta try something new.
In the afternoon the rain continued at Uni. Fall was just starting while the trimester was coming to an
In the evening there will be a party at Harold's fraternity, but Farah would keep her promise. There would be enough time to celebrate in style when the classes ended.
For now, she would stay at home to finish Harold's portrait. It would be a perfect farewell gift.
Ready. The portrait is finished. Farah had spent almost the whole night painting, and she would be ablet o sleep only a few hours before going to class.
She didn't sleep much, barely three hours, but that was enough to recover. Besides, a new idea for her new novel has just ocurred to her and she wanted to start writing.
In the evening she attended the Harold's fraternity gathering, but only to give him the portrait.
"Here you are, Harold, mi farewell present".
"Aw, thank you so much, Farah, how nice of you".
Farah was going to miss Harold. Now he was his best friend, if not the only one. She was so fond of him that it was iba a extrañar a Harold. Ahora era su mejor amigo, por no decir el único. she felt so much affection for him that she would probably have fallen in love with him if she was not married.
A photo to remember...
"Oh, shoot, I can't see anything!"
"I'm sorry, Harold".
"Don't worry, Farah. I'm fine. Thanks for being my best friend".
This time was goodbye. It was truly a shame. They would've make a perfect couple, but that wouldn't be for two reasons. First, like I said before, Farah was married. And second, Harold was, well - a fairy? Or elf, or goblin, whatever you call it. Maybe that was why he was so special. One thing for sure, he would always be her best friend.
