Mistakes, Doubts and Apologies

March 10, 2013

The  next day, Dylan left early and in a hurry for his classes. he didn't even have time to finish his breakfast.
And since Dylan wasn't home, Karen had the 'great' idea of inviting Paul Bide, her only friend so far, to meet the 'random kiss' challenge. The problem was Paul thought that all this was real and responded all excitedly without knowing this was about a challenge only.
He wasn't the only one who was dissapointed, Karen wasn't satisfied either, but not because of the kiss, which was great by the way, but because she got only 100 silly simoleons for the deed.
"Only 100 Simoleons? And to top it off I have to tell Paul that it wasn't serious. What a mess!"
When Paul discovered the truth he got out of there very dissapointed and angry. It seems that Karen lost her only friend in campus. Yikes.
Meanwhile, Dylan got another invitation to a Ye Gangnam's party.
Karen got an invitation too, but she didn't know if she should attend. She likes Ye, but she's still worried about what happened with Paul. To tell the truth, she would rather stay at home.
Besides, at the mere prospect of running into Alexandra again, she rather stay and study for the exams. That night she wasn't in the mood for dealing with Goth's childishness.
During the party, Alexandra came to greet Dylan. He wasn't angry anymore, but either way he asked her for an explanation.
"It wasn't that big a deal, it's just your little girlfriend can't take a joke. But don't worry, she completed her challenge and got her reward, so for now I'll leave her alone".
Minutes later, Dylan got a call from Karen: she wouldn't come to the party. She got out of class and went straight home. The most advisable for him would be to leave the party and see if he can talk to Karen about that  famous challenge.
When he got home, Karen had already gone to bed, so he took the opportunity to study himself. The day of the final exams is very near.
The morning has come, very freezing by the way. Karen headed for her classes in such a hurry that she almost ran over Marques, one of the Ballard siblings. Jarred and Simone were further behind, also in their bikes. The three siblings are a bit weird looking...
When she arrived on campus, she approached Marques to apologize, then she was able to look at hium carefully. It turns out he is a vampire! For some time Karen had the wish to meet one and today that wish was granted.
She tried to befriend Marques, but as he is a celebrity, he rejected her, and not just that, he tried to hypnotize her. How rude! Fortunately the super impertinent vampire's failed in his attempt.
"You are rude! See you never!", Karen told him angrily.
Now, thanks to Marques, she's going to be late for her class.
The 'class' was actually a lecture at the Student Union Building. Karen was late, but still she was allowed to get in. She found a seat at the front and the speaker wasn't bad at all!
Scot McLamoor was in the Nerds social group, a very intelligent guy. Rumor had it he was engaged with someone from to a royalty. Karen didn't doubt it was so, since Scot looked like a total gentleman.
"Does anyone have a question?"
"Yeah, me. Is it true you're going to marry the Queen of Simsburg?"

"Miss Helgason, I inform you that my private life isn't the matter of this lecture. I just hope this same interest will be shown in your final exams.
"Wow, how arrogant. Too bad, cause he's very handsome".

After leaving the conference, Karen sent a text message to Paul, apologizing  for the kiss thing. They both needed to talk about it, but Paul didn't even returned the message to her.
In the meantime, Dylan attended a lecture too, not as enjoyable as the Scot McLamoor's one. He tried taking notes but it was difficult for him to concentrate.
The professor wrote too many things on the blackborard while he continued with his long speech.
"Does anybody want to ask a question?"
Well - Dylan Bueno... Dylan had not just one question, but several running around his head since last night. "Karen completed a challenge and got her reward", Alexandra had told him. But -- Who was the lucky guy Karen had kissed? Why hadn't she told him anything about that? Was she planning to tell him at some point?
So many doubts together with the boring class were too much and Dylan finally fell asleep in his seat. At least for now his mind was 'disconnected' and would allow him to rest.
In the evening there was a party at the spoiled girls house again. Dylan and Karen arrived early, but the girls weren't there yet. Then Ye showed up and start talking animatedly with Dylan. He seem very interested in her talk.

But Karen found it boring so. so she took out her Communications equipment and started interviewing Samantha Grey, a Level 9 rebel who was among the guests. Samantha gladly answered all her questions. Karen felt like a real reporter and and the practice qiell be useful both for the next day's exams and for the journalism career she had just started at Aurora Skies.
After the interview, after adjustin the antenna, she put away all the equipment. It was the first time she used it and was delighted. She would definitely have to use it more often.
Since the party wasn't too good, Dylan dedicated himself to study for the exams.
The damn party wasn't exactly a success, so he and Karen left early. Again, they weren't able to talk, so the challenge issue was still pending. Was that perhaps why Alexandra hadn't attended and why the party had been so lackluster?
